When I first started Emily Kelley Designs my husband and I were newlyweds and brand new home owners. It was our seventh move in seven years and we were ready to put down some roots. Less than two years after we moved in life threw us a curve ball and my husband’s job sent us 800 miles away to the Tennessee Valley.
As if that wasn’t crazy enough, I was also pregnant with our first child and anxious to get settled. Within a week of arriving in our new town we made an offer on our second house. As soon as we moved in, we began a race against the clock to unpack and make it feel like home before our baby arrived in two months. Since then we entered a global pandemic, more or less went into lock-down just the three of us, and stayed busy adjusting to our new state, new lives, new jobs and new roles as mom and dad. Fast forward another two years, and we're back in Texas! We just purchased our third home in four years. It's the 11th place we've called home in 10 years, and we really hope to hang around for awhile! Moving is a journey in so many ways, but it always excites me and shifts my creativity into overdrive.
We're finally settling into a routine and I am ready to get back to blogging, designing and helping others love their spaces and celebrate life's special moments.
For a brief peek into our homes, both current and previous, check out the photo tour below, follow me on Instagram @emilykelleydesigns, or visit my blog. Like most people, our home is constantly evolving and a work in progress. It’s a collection of things we love, things that represent people we love, and things we can’t wait to replace. Sometimes patience is the most important part of designing a space you love, and boy is it a hard-learned lesson! I hope to dive deeper into our spaces, projects and plans over on the blog in the days to come.
