Stop Pinning, Start Living!

Picture

Hi everyone, I'm Emily and I’m SO excited to have you here!

Born and raised in Houston, I now live in Northeast Alabama with my husband, toddler son, dog and cat. Growing up I developed a great love of coordinating, organizing and designing events, which has led me to my career working as a professional event planner. As I got older and moved out on my own, moved again, again and again, I discovered the only thing I enjoyed coordinating, organizing and designing more than events was my home and the homes of people I love.

Like many of you I’ve spent countless hours watching HGTV, reading magazines, and browsing Pinterest. I've created boards for every aspect of home life that I can think of, organizing ideas and inspiration for what I want my home, dining room, dinner party menus (and more!) to look like… someday. Someday, if I'm lucky... lucky enough to win the lottery (ha!). I had grand, picture perfect pins of my dreams spread out across my computer screen. I realized the odds of my winning the lottery were pretty slim, especially since I don't even play the lottery.

This meant those dreams I'd carefully laid out on Pinterest would likely
always be out of reach. But what if they didn't have to be? What if I decided to stop waiting for THAT house, THAT dining room and THAT kitchen. What if I decided to live my "someday dreams" in my "today life"? What if I applied  "there's no time like the present" to my tiny little apartment, mismatched furniture, and often non-existent budget? From creating the type of spaces I swooned at online, to hosting the dinner party I'd been planning in my head for someday, I decided it was time. Time to stop dreaming of tomorrow and make the most of today. It was time to stop pinning, and start living.

We all know that "comparison is the thief of joy", but practicing that is easier said than done. This has been, and continues to be, a journey of patience and gratitude. A journey that I'm so excited to share. Thank you for coming along for the ride, I can't wait to create beautiful things with you!

                                             Love, Emily
